Chutneys and jams
Matthews preserves are based in Calverton, Nottingham. We first met Matthew when we were both proud to be finalists in the 2019 Golden Fork Awards in London last September – Matthew for his Spicy Pineapple Chutney and Bluebells for our Amaretto and Black Cherry Ice Cream. Only British fruits are used to make these delicious jams and as many British ingredients as possible (with of course, the exception of pineapples and mangoes) for his chutneys . Matthew was named as 'The Startisan of the Year' for his delicious products, by The Guild of Fine Foods in the 2019 Great Taste Awards.
We believe the taste of these jams and chutneys is exceptional and they really complement our range of cheeses.
Flour, muesli and granola
Caudwell's Mill is a unique, Grade II* listed, historic, water turbine powered, roller flour mill. Powered by water from the river Wye, one or more mills have stood on this site for at least 400 years. The present mill was built in 1874 by John Caudwell and run as a family business for over a century, before closing in 1978.
The mill was then purchased by a charitable trust and has been operated by the Trust for over forty years. At Caudwell's Mill, grain was milled by the same process used at the giant modern mills which now provide most of the flour for our bread, but here production was on a scale and at a speed that is both easier to understand and which did not damage the flour.
